Pump Up The Vote
Community Outreach Events
To drive tune-in for CNN’s 2008 election coverage, HMG tapped into a critical voting issue – high gas prices – and staged “free gas” events across the U.S. Consumers lined up at the pumps to take advantage of the free-flowing fuel, pumped by some very recognizable characters (Messrs. Obama and McCain). The network’s local cable affiliates were integrated into the events in exchange for running a schedule of CNN election coverage spots, guaranteeing the network even greater exposure.
